WHY ARE THESE PLACES LEFT BEHIND?

Our Hands On Approach To

Historic Preservation

Our work extends far beyond just the lens; we dive deep into historic records, search old newspaper archives, and unearth connected images from across the furthest reaches of the internet. That’s not to mention the dusty, and sometimes musty, real life archives we visit. In an era where history is too often lost to erasure, neglect, or demolition, our commitment is to preserve these forgotten places. Much like a good book demands a fitting ending, these places deserve to have their histories told, from start to finish. Our mission is not just to capture (undeniably good) images; we are committed to uncovering and honoring hidden histories with a spirit of curiosity and respect, ensuring these sites are safeguarded in a digital archive before they are lost forever.

We take preservation seriously. We DO NOT publicly disclose their exact locations (and hope you won’t either). This step is a crucial measure in preventing the acceleration of theft, vandalism, demolition, or other negative publicity. There are however so many ways to join our path to preservation. Whether it’s by submitting a location for us to document, following our adventures on social media, shopping at the Abandoned Therapy store, or becoming a part of our members only area, Abandoned Upstate: After Dark. Every bit of support helps us continue this journey and keeps us on the road.

"It's the erasing, not the exploring, that's criminal."

Reaching out to us is basically as easy as exploring an abandoned building (just kidding, it's much easier). We would love hearing from you and answering any questions that you might have. The best way to get in touch is by submitting the form, but you can also reach us through, email, or social media by sending a direct message. We'll get back to you as soon as we can.
